The Opportunity

Our Parks & Recreation Team has various Support Positions available within our facilities:

  • Childminding Attendant
  • Customer Service
  • Facility Attendant
  • Snack Bar Attendant

Working with our Recreation staff, these staff members provide quality customer service to users of all Parks & Recreation facilities throughout Caledon.

 

Our Childminding Attendants:

  • Provide attentive care and oversee appropriate activities to meet the needs of children (various ages). Assist with toileting
  • Oversee the sign-in/sign-out process to ensure that each child leaves the facility safely and with the designated guardian
  • Provide program instruction/leadership at the appropriate skill level of participants. Start and end program on time
  • Work in accordance to Cash Handling procedures and protocol as it relates to the position
  • Perform administrative tasks (i.e. attendance, preparation, Injury and Incident Reports etc.)
  • Attend team meetings and training sessions
  • Ensure confidentiality of all information pertaining to  staff, clients and facility operations
  • Assist in providing a clean, healthy , safe environment for the program and ensure equipment is stored as required
  • Maintain composure in escalated situations as they arise.  Immediately report incidents to the Recreation Coordinator or designate

    Candidates for these positions will have the following training and skills:

  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR- C
  • Experience working with infants, preschool and school age children
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

 

Our Customer Service Staff:

  • Promote and sell all programs, memberships and services available at all Parks & Recreation facilities
  • Maintain all promotional material for the facility
  • Work in compliance with Cash Handling procedures. Accept payment for and process program registrations and membership sales; balance cash and end of shift deposits/floats
  • Work in accordance to Cash Handling procedures and protocol as it relates to the position Perform administrative tasks (i.e. attendance, preparation, Injury and Incident Reports etc.)
  • Attend team meetings and training sessions
  • Ensure confidentiality of all information pertaining to  staff, clients and facility operations
  • Assist in providing a clean, healthy , safe environment for the program and ensure equipment is stored as required
  • Maintain composure in escalated situations as they arise.  Immediately report incidents to the Recreation Coordinator or designate

   Candidates for these positions will have the following training and skills:

  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR- C
  • Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office). Familiarity with CLASS would be an asset
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

 

Our Facility Attendants:

  • Perform indoor and outdoor maintenance tasks (sweep, wash/strip floors, vacuum, wash windows/doors, clean washrooms/change rooms, empty garages, shovel snow, clear ice, cut grass, etc.)
  • Assist with maintaining the facility (paint, carpentry repairs, roof maintenance etc.)
  • Assist with the maintenance of arena/ice facilities, fitness area, and/or swimming pool (not all locations)
  • Set-up meeting rooms for user functions
  • Stock vending machines
  • Perform administrative tasks (i.e. attendance, preparation, Injury and Incident Reports etc.)
  • Attend team meetings and training sessions
  • Ensure confidentiality of all information pertaining to  staff, clients and facility operations
  • Assist in providing a clean, healthy , safe environment for the program and ensure equipment is stored as required
  • Maintain composure in escalated situations as they arise.  Immediately report incidents to the Recreation Coordinator or designate

    Candidates for these positions will have the following training and skills:

  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR- C
  • Knowledge/experience with basic plumbing, electrical systems and/or carpentry would be an asset
  • Valid driver's licence in good standing with no more than 3 demerit points
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

 

Our Snack Bar Attendants:

  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and area
  • Keep items well-stocked and displayed in an appealing and organized manner
  • Assist with inventory checks and controls
  • Work in compliance with Cash Handling procedures. Accept payment for concession sales; count float at start of shift and balance cash at end of day. Prepare deposits per shift as required
  • Perform administrative tasks (i.e. attendance, preparation, Injury and Incident Reports etc.)
  • Attend team meetings and training sessions
  • Ensure confidentiality of all information pertaining to  staff, clients and facility operations
  • Assist in providing a clean, healthy , safe environment for the program and ensure equipment is stored as required
  • Maintain composure in escalated situations as they arise.  Immediately report incidents to the Recreation Coordinator or designate

    Candidates for these positions will have the following training and skills:

  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR- C
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

 

Note: All Staff working with the Parks & Recreation Department are required to satisfactorily pass a vulnerable sector check and complete Standard First Aid with CPR-C (if not already certified).
