As an invaluable leader within the Planning team, the Manager, Development is responsible for leading and managing the development approval process for all types of planning applications as regulated by the Planning Act and related land use planning services within the department. You will provide overall management and guidance of development planning services connected to urban design, landscape architecture, administering the Town’s Zoning By-laws, front line counter and phone services, submission of applications requirements, and other support services.

Reporting directly to the Director of Planning/Chief Planner, you will lead a team of planning professionals, addressing and resolving specific operational and project issues and contributing to the establishment and maintenance of Town planning reflecting community priorities and promoting development that elevates the Town of Caledon.

We are seeking an individual with a post-secondary degree in Planning, or closely related field. Membership in the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and Canadian Institute of Planners is required. Our ideal candidate has a minimum seven (7) years in land use planning with increasing responsibilities, with three (3) years of leadership experience. Previous municipal experience is an asset.

The ideal candidate will have thorough knowledge of the Planning Act, Provincial Policy Statement, Provincial Plans, and the Regional and Local Planning Policy Framework and demonstrated knowledge of the development application process. We are seeking an individual with superior interpersonal skills, a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders, and excellent communication and engagement skills.

The successful candidate for Manager, Development will be required to work a flexible schedule, including in the office, remotely and after hours (as required).

This position offers a salary range of $119,932.21 - $146,976.86 plus a competitive benefit package.

Satisfactory passing of a criminal record check, and proof of qualifications will be required of any successful candidate(s) for this position.

New employees who commence employment on or after November 15, 2021 are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, as a condition of employment.
