The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Manager, Zoning & Client Services, this role is responsible for leading pre consultation processes of the department, processing a limited range of development applications and acting as a resource for staff, Council and the public in regards to planning processes and policies. As the Intermediate Planner, you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:

  • Conduct preliminary, pre-consultation meetings and process associated files
  • Responsible for the day to day management as applicable of development applications including, but not limited to, Site Plan Control applications, Committee of Adjustment applications, Niagara Escarpment Development applications, and associated site inspections
  • Provide guidance and information to internal Town staff, Council, other relevant public agencies, and the general public regarding Caledon’s planning process, Official Plan policies, and other relevant planning policies
  • Attend Council and other Committee meetings to represent the Department of Planning and the Planning interest of the Town of Caledon as assigned
  • Prepare evidence under minimal supervision for Ontario Land Tribunal and other Hearings as assigned

COVID-19: In consideration of the current pandemic and Public Health orders, the Town of Caledon is providing limited in-person services as Town Hall is open to the public by appointment only. The successful candidate for Intermediate Planner will be required to work a flexible schedule, including in the office, remotely and after hours (as required).

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking an enthusiastic professional with a post-secondary degree in Planning, or closely related field. Our ideal candidate has a minimum of 1 year related experience in municipal planning. Membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners would be an asset.

The ideal candidate will be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and knowledge of AMANDA would be an asset. We are seeking an individual with superior verbal and written communication skills, a demonstrated ability to make decisions involving multiple routine tasks, and excellent organizational skills with considerable attention to detail to avoid errors and ability to meet deadlines.

This position offers a salary range of $71,552.88 - $84,616.97 plus a competitive benefit package.

Satisfactory passing of a criminal record check, and proof of qualifications will be required of any successful candidate(s) for this position.
