The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Manager, Engineering Capital Design & Construction, this role is responsible for the management of projects, programs, and major studies related to the planning, design, management, and rehabilitation of municipal stormwater infrastructure and natural watercourses including the development and implementation of Master Plans and Class Environmental Assessments. As the Senior Project Manager, Stormwater, you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:

  • Stormwater Program Development - Asset management, record keeping, GIS based mapping, linear infrastructure condition assessment coordination and post-CCTV analysis, SWM pond inspections, website development, policy development and capital budget assistance.
  • Stormwater Studies – Responsible for preparing and implementing master drainage plans and studies including facilitating public engagement and communications.
  • Responsible for capital planning, design, design review, approvals, and construction of storm drainage related capital projects.
  • Compliance – Consolidated Linear Infrastructure Environmental Compliance Approval Program administration, monitoring and reporting to the Province.
  • Administration – procurement, public inquiries, policy development, research, liaison with public agencies, grant, and proposal writing.
  • Project Manages bridge related environmental assessments, detailed designs, and construction.
  • Provide technical assistance to the Operations Department as it relates to stormwater management.
  • Designated as the Town’s flood officer and responsible for providing expertise to emergency planning.

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a passionate professional with a post-secondary degree in Civil, Water Resource, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field, with a P. Eng. designation with the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO). Graduate studies in Water Resource Engineering and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) are considered an asset.

Our ideal candidate has minimum of 5 years of water resource or civil/environmental engineering experience in a municipal environment along with experience with stormwater management. Extensive experience in project management specifically related to stormwater infrastructure upgrades and modifications, along with experience with complex Municipal Class EA projects related to stormwater management projects. Experience in construction management related to stormwater management facilities and linear infrastructure or similar scope of work, including scope change management, risk mitigation and contract administration.

The successful candidate demonstrates computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), ArcGIS and has knowledge of AutoCAD. We are seeking an individual with the ability to read, interpret, and report on engineering plans, drawings, technical memos, reports, and specifications. With the ability to communicate complex technical issues to a variety of audiences. This candidate has a customer service focused approach, with strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to collaborate and work effectively with consultants, contractors, colleagues, elected officials, developers, and other stakeholders.

The successful candidate for Senior Project Manager, Stormwater will be required to work a flexible schedule, including in the office, remotely and after hours (as required).

This position offers a salary range of $91,991.43 - $112,735.95 (2022 rate) plus a competitive benefit package.
