We are seeking  dynamic, energetic individuals with excellent customer service skills and public library experience to be a part of our team.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Branch Manager as a member of the Public Service Team, the Public Service Coordinator provides a variety of services including borrower services, reference assistance, readers’ advisory and user-support of library technologies and digital resources.  The Public Service Coordinator is also responsible for creating a welcoming and inclusive library environment and acts as Person in Charge at the branch.

We are seeking individuals with training and knowledge in the above, typically acquired through the completion of a post-secondary diploma in Library Techniques. Our ideal candidates have a minimum of one (1) year library experience, preferably in a public library and two (2) years' experience in a customer-focused setting.

We are seeking individuals who are computer proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), SharePoint and Symphony Integrated Library Software (ILS) and holds their Standard First Aid and CPR “C” certification with AED.  We are seeking people with excellent communication and customer service skills, as well as superior interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively in a team environment and foster effective working relationships.

This position offers an hourly wage of $31.96 per hour.

Satisfactory passing of a vulnerable sector check, and proof of qualifications will be required of any successful candidate(s) for this position.

New employees who commence employment on or after November 15, 2021 are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, as a condition of employment.
