The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Parks Supervisor this role is responsible for providing an overall level of maintenance to the Parks system in the Town of Caledon.As the Parks Maintenance, Winter TFT, you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:
- Maintain and carry out preventative maintenance for parks maintenance equipment
- Perform basic service to Parks vehicles including fluid top-ups etc.
- Patrol Town parks and sidewalks and provide service as directed
- Clear snow from sidewalks, parking lots, roadway etc. and apply salt/sand to walkways to meet winter sidewalk service levels
- Inspect Park conditions, empty Park garbage cans, pick up litter in Parks, ensure cleanliness of Town buildings’ exterior and remove all litter
- Be conscientious of Park conditions; report all safety hazards and vandalism to the Supervisor, Parks
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals with completion of grade 12 education or equivalent. A post-secondary diploma as a Landscape Technician or a closely related field would be an asset. Our ideal candidate has a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a park’s maintenance environment. We are looking for individuals with a valid driver’s license with no more than 3 demerit points; a restricted ‘A’ license is an asset.
We are seeking individuals with experience operating and basic servicing of vehicles (light trucks, tractors, mowers, sidewalk snowplow etc.) and equipment and experience in general parks maintenance and repairs. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, proficient verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
This position offers a rate of pay of $24.41, based on a 40-hour work week.
Satisfactory passing of a criminal record check, and proof of qualifications will be required of any successful candidate(s) for this position.
