  • Work on large variety of equipment and attachments including, but not limited to Landscape maintenance units, sidewalk maintenance machines, Graders, Loaders, Backhoe, Heavy and light duty equipment, and all seasonal attachments.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Fleet Supervisor, this role is responsible for performing annual MTO inspections, routine maintenance, as well as carrying out major or minor repairs on all equipment serviced by the Town of Caledon in a safe, efficient, and customer focused manner. As the Fleet Service Technician II, you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:

  • Perform major/minor repair and preventative maintenance on all Town owned vehicles and equipment.
  • Identify and report equipment deficiencies.
  • Ensure all repairs are properly completed and carried out in a safe and timely manner.
  • Conduct regular inspections on vehicles and equipment and sign annual MTO Vehicle inspections.
  • Independently diagnose, troubleshoot and repair electronic/electrical faults.
  • Review, order, and maintain inventory of appropriate parts and supplies.
  • Responsible for preparing and maintaining work related records.
  • Maintain knowledge of the hazards of repairing heavy equipment.
  • Participate in all mandatory training requirements.
  • Perform additional duties and undertake special projects as assigned.
  • Be responsible to work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations; the Town of Caledon Policies and Procedures; as well as established industry guidelines.

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking an enthusiastic professional with Grade 12 completion or the equivalent and successful completion of 310T (Truck and Coach Technical). Additional coursework, including 310S (Automotive Service Technician), is considered an asset. Our ideal candidate has a minimum of 5 years of experience servicing heavy trucks, vehicles, and equipment and a Class DZ license is considered an asset.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated working knowledge of electronics and hydraulics, and vehicle/equipment diagnostic software knowledge. We are seeking an individual with superior analytical skills, a demonstrated ability to adhere to deadlines, and excellent problem-solving skills.

The successful candidate for Fleet Service Technician II will be required to work a flexible schedule and after hours (as required).

This position offers an hourly rate of $37.35 plus a competitive benefit package.
