Description
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Manager, Purchasing & Risk Management, this role is responsible for managing claim files and assisting with the overall daily functions of claims and risk management for the Town, in collaboration with staff, including investigating claims, gathering evidence and making recommendations for denial or settlement of claims. As the Coordinator, Claims & Risk Management, you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:
- Managing claims file related to potholes and smaller property damage claims. Investigating claims, gathering evidence and making recommendations for denial/settlement of claims. Work with adjusters and insurers to resolve claims received.
- Manage the Town’s purchasing card program.
- Manage and update the Town’s business continuity plans for all departments.
- Review and process requests for certificates of insurance.
- Process all invoices for the Purchasing & Risk Management area.
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking an enthusiastic professional with a post-secondary degree in business administration or a closely related field. Our ideal candidate has a minimum of three (3) years of experience in risk management, claims and insurance. Certification in General Insurance Essentials (GIE) or Certification in Canadian Risk Management (CRM) or Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) is considered an asset.
The ideal candidate will be able to ascertain legal liability to the Town when assessing claims, agreements, or during meetings. We are seeking an individual with excellent verbal and written communication skills, a demonstrated ability to explain, clarify and persuade to gain approval, and superior interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
This position offers an annual salary of $69,760.10 - $82,695.28 plus a competitive benefit package.
