The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Manager, Corporate Facilities this role is responsible the overall supervision and management of a group of community facilities. This position leads the facilities operation team and provides daily supervision to a team of unionized and non-union full and part time staff. As the Supervisor, Community Facilities, you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:
- Establish systems for preventative maintenance, facility inspections, energy management, security, asset management, housekeeping, and quality assurance.
- Identify, plan, coordinate, and deliver facility-based capital projects/programs.
- Collaborate with Programs team ensuring quality and balance between programs and facilities teams.
- Oversee maintenance of the physical plant and all venue systems including but not limited to: Mechanical Systems, Plumbing Systems, Electrical Systems and Structural Systems.
- Work with Coordinator, Community Operations to develop full time and casual staff scheduling to best meet service standards.
- Lead the review and updating of major departmental policies and procedures.
- Conduct industry research on emerging facility trends and technologies.
- Assist with the planning and preparation of new community facilities.
- Work with internal other departments to create and implement Town wide policies and procedures.
- Recruit, train, coach, and evaluate staff.
- Develop goals and objectives and conduct annual performance appraisals.
- Supervise in-house and contracted staff assigned to perform work and activities as defined herein.
- Prepare and submit annual operating and capital budgets for assigned areas of responsibility.
- Be responsible to work (and ensure that all staff supervised work) in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, the Town of Caledon Policies and Procedures, as well as established industry guidelines.
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking an energetic professional with a post-secondary diploma in Recreation Facilities/Building/Property Management (from ORFA/BOMA/IFMA/College or equivalent) and/or Recreation Studies or a closely related field. A certification in Recreation/Facility Management or a closely related field. Our ideal candidate has minimum 5 years related experience in a recreation or property management setting including the operation and maintenance of arenas and/or pools. Along with a minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a recreation or property management setting including the operation and maintenance of arenas and/or pools. Experience working in a unionized environment would be beneficial.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated supervisory, performance management, leadership, and team-building skills. We are seeking an individual with superior interpersonal skills, a demonstrated ability to exercise significant discretion, and excellent communication skills.
The successful candidate for Supervisor, Community Facilities will be required to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays (as required).
This position offers a salary range of $98,431.81- $116,683.85 (2022 rate) plus a competitive benefit package.
