Reporting directly to the Manager, Public Service, this position is responsible for the day to day provision of borrower services and may be called upon to provide relief services at any service point.
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking a motivated and friendly individual with a minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent. Additional post-secondary coursework in public librarianship would be considered an asset. Our ideal candidate has a minimum 1 year library experience, preferably in a public library and 2 years experience in a customer orientated setting. The preferred candidate displays an unwavering appreciation of and a commitment to excellence in public library service by demonstrating relevant key competencies as per the Caledon Public Library’s Core Competencies. These include, but are not limited to; excellent verbal and written communication; demonstrated ability to work without direct supervision and display sound judgement and decision making; and demonstrated ability to articulate library policies and to interact with customers of all ages and backgrounds, clearly and positively.
We are seeking an individual with computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), SharePoint and Symphony Integrated Library Software (ILS). Possession of a valid driver’s license with no more than 3 demerit points, along with a Standard First Aid and CPR “C” certification with AED is required.
Satisfactory passing of a vulnerable sector check, and proof of qualifications will be required of any successful candidate(s) for this position.
