Reporting directly to the Supervisor, Building Inspections/Deputy CBO, this role conducts building inspections for the following categories of permits in the Town of Caledon: HVAC-House, Building Services, Plumbing All Buildings, and On-Site Sewage Systems. This role provides inspection ensuring that construction is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the Building Code Act, the Ontario Building Code, and all other applicable laws, standards, and regulations.
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking an experienced professional with a post-secondary diploma in Architectural Technology, or closely related field. The ideal candidate will meet the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MMAH) qualifications in General Legal/Process, HVAC House, Building Services, Plumbing All Buildings, and On-Site Sewage Systems. Membership or eligibility for membership with the OBOA as a CBCO is required, along with a minimum 3 years related experience in the construction industry or conducting inspections. The preferred candidate will have demonstrated knowledge of sound construction in practices and design, and a comprehensive understanding of the Ontario Building Code and Ontario Building Act. Our ideal candidate has the physical ability to move about buildings under construction, crawl into attics and crawlspaces, climb high ladders and scaffolding and maneuver over uneven terrain.
We are seeking an individual with a valid driver’s license with no more than 3 demerit points and daily access to a vehicle for corporate use, and computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook). Knowledge of AMANDA, Auto-CAD and Arc Explorer would be an asset.
This position offers a salary range of $70,322.24 - $83,161.34 plus a competitive benefit package.
