The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Coordinator, Community Operations this role is responsible for maintaining the ice (if applicable), Class “A” swimming pools (if applicable), building grounds, and equipment at various Town of Caledon Recreation facilities. As the Maintenance TFT, Community Services you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:

  • Check the electrical heating and air conditioning systems, perform preventative maintenance (e.g. changing filters, oiling, etc.) and perform minor repairs or notify Recreation Supervisor/Operations Co-Ordinator to arrange repairs, as required
  • Maintain the building grounds (i.e. landscape, water, cut grass, shovel snow, clear ice)
  • Maintain the exterior of the facility (i.e. painting, general roof maintenance)  
  • Clean and maintain the facility (sweep, wash/strip floors, vacuum, wash windows/doors, clean washrooms/change rooms, empty garbage, etc.)
  • Check building emergency systems and maintain the Building Automation Program

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking an enthusiastic professional with high school diploma or closely related field. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 1-year related experience in arenas (if applicable), pools (if applicable) and/or recreation centres, as well as thorough working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical system. The candidate must have a valid driver’s licence with no more than 3 demerit points and daily access to a vehicle. Experience in the following areas are an asset: maintenance of arena refrigeration systems: ice preparation; operation and maintenance of ice resurfacing and related equipment (if applicable); operation/maintenance of swimming pool filtration systems and general swimming pool maintenance operations (if applicable); maintenance of gas powered mechanical equipment, and ORFA Training.

The ideal candidate will able to meet the physical demands of the position including strenuous movement requiring more effort, lifting to 50 lbs, and demonstrated ability to work at heights. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated customer service excellence. We are seeking an individual with superior interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively in a team environment, a demonstrated ability to exercise significant discretion and sensitivity involving occasional access to confidential data, and excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to give and/or exchange routine information.

This position offers a rate of pay of $23.99, based on a 40-hour work week.

Satisfactory passing of a vulnerable sector check, and proof of qualifications will be required of any successful candidate(s) for this position.
