The Opportunity

Through demonstration of strong leadership and project management skills the Specialist, Energy and Environment will be responsible for implementing the Town’s Greenhouse Gas Reduction Framework.

Reporting directly to the Manager, Energy and Environment, responsibilities will include facilitating the Town’s Corporate Energy Team to implement the Town’s Corporate Energy Program, monitoring the Town’s energy management software energyCAP and updating facility energy benchmarking database using RETScreen Expert to communicate facility energy consumption to key stakeholders. You will manage the Town’s energy incentive applications as well as support applications of other energy and environmental funding/grants and incentive programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing corporate climate change initiatives such as updating the Town’s Corporate Green Building Standard, identifying opportunities for greening Town fleet and improving facility waste management. A natural relationship builder, this candidate must maintain networking relationships with the Town staff, energy utilities, municipal climate change practitioners and other affiliated organizations to advance the Town’s Corporate Climate Change Strategic Plans.

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a candidate with superior interpersonal and communication skills and a post secondary degree/diploma in Environmental Studies/Science, Engineering, Climate Change or a closely related field. You will have a minimum 3-5 years' related experience in environment, sustainability, climate change, or a related area. Municipal experience and/or experience working on LEED projects is considered an asset. The Ideal candidate has excellent organizational skills, analytical and problem solving skills, demonstrated customer service excellence and experience working with stakeholders to implement programs and projects .  

 This position offers a salary range of $70,322.24 -$ 83,161.64 plus a competitive benefit package.
